2011 Alzafar Shrine Circus Spectacular

The Freeman Coliseum roared to life on Thursday, September 8, 2011 when the Alzafar Shrine Circus Spectacular rolled into town. Performers from 15 countries dazzled the crowds along with tantalizing tigers, enchanting elephants and dramatic daredevils. esd public relations called on their media sources KENS-TV’s Sarah Lucero and WOAI-TV’s Jacqueline Ortiz to kick off the biggest and best Shrine Circus ever. The Alzafar Shrine Circus received tremendous publicity value with WOAI-TV Today’s Where’s Cleto, Fox News First, KABB-TV’s Daytime@Nine and San Antonio Living. Cleto and Fox News First’s Shaun Stevens transformed into Shriner circus clowns live during their broadcasts. KABB-TV’s Monica Taylor even rode an elephant live!

The Alzafar Shrine Circus is a major fundraiser for Alzafar Shriners and Shriners Hospitals for Children. Each year, more than 700 children from San Antonio and South Texas are treated at Shriners Hospitals for Children regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
