Furniture For A Cause by SAMMinistries helped 50 families through its first Tables for Thanksgiving collection drive. The nonprofit group delivered donated tables and chairs to needy families on November 12, 2011. The families also received a gift certificate for a free turkey from H-E-B. People who donated tables received 20 percent off any dinette at Furniture For A Cause. The esd PR team generated coverage in the San Antonio Express-News, local television stations and Texas Public Radio.
Furniture For A Cause has a retail store for new and used furniture at 5254 Blanco Road. Net proceeds from sales go to SAMMinistries, which helps people who are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless in the greater San Antonio area.
