twitter’s new swinging social media application

A new social media application was recently launched and has mobile users flocking in herds to download it. Vine is Twitter’s new video-based social media application. This application gives its users the opportunity to record six-second videos that are then uploaded on to the user’s profile. These videos, which by appearance are similar to GIF files, can be shared via a user’s other social media profiles, like Twitter. Although it has rapidly grown in popularity among the social media crowd, is Vine the appropriate social media outlet for your company?

Determining whether Vine is the perfect fit for a company is dependent upon said company’s target audience. This new application, however, allows company’s to engage their target audience on a new social media platform. Humans are visual beings by nature. Because of this, the videos that are created and uploaded within the application are visually arresting, capable of grabbing the attention of the tens, hundreds or thousands of Vine and Internet users that view the video. What is even more impressive is the ability to of the application user to share the video via Twitter, expanding the reach of a video to the more than 200 million Twitter users.

Vine offers a new form of content and social media marketing. Companies can use Vine to create videos, viewable from both mobile devices and desktop computers, promoting their products, services or company, in general. These companies can also engage with fellow Vine users through “likes” and comments, similar to the application’s social media counterparts. Vine also makes locating already created videos simpler through its search tool that allows for easy navigation of hashtags, subjects or keywords.

Currently, the free application is only available in the iOS App Store, however its existence opens more doors for companies looking to market themselves via social media outlets. It is not certain whether Vine will continue to prosper and grow in popularity as it has done in its short existence, but this new application can open more content and social media marketing doors to thousands of companies looking to engage social-savvy users and, as such, achieve results.
