esd Group photoOn Oct. 6, esd and associates, along with other leaders in the Greater San Antonio Area, took part in the Challenge of the Fittest, a corporate fitness event held by the Fit Company Institute providing area companies and business leaders an opportunity to show the
importance of living a fit and healthy lifestyle.
Participants ranging in age from 24–54 competed in categories for Fittest Executive, Entrepreneur, Doctor, Lawyer and Fittest Company. Participants sweated their way through three fitness courses to test their strength, conditioning, power, agility and endurance at the Thousand Oaks Family YMCA. The event benefited the Y Partners Campaign.
Esd and associates placedthird in the Fittest Company category, with esd’s Maria Balandra placing second in the Fittest Professional –Female category.
To encourage employees to practice a healthy lifestyle, esd and associates developed a wellness program that emphasizes fun and achievable, rewarding goals. With the creation of this program, ESD folds fitness services and rewards into its existing health insurance budget.
Free activities in pursuit of fitness goals include free monthly sessions with personal trainers, company walks, company bike rides and company workouts. Employees are reimbursed for all entry fees for official runs/walks, marathons, triathlons and cycling events.
Along with their most recent accolades, esd and associates was nominated as one of San Antonio’s Healthiest Employers in the San Antonio Business Journal, and will be honored for their selection Thursday, Oct. 24, at The Historic Pearl Stable at 303 Pearl Parkway. esd also earned Gold Recognition in the 2013 Healthy Workplace Recognition Program for its dedication to health and wellness for all employees.
