The Alamo City’s leading digital creative agency, esd & associates, was recognized by the San Antonio Business Journal for its commitment to a healthy workforce at the inaugural Healthiest Employers Awards Breakfast on Oct. 24.
Held at The Historic Pearl Stable, the event kicked off with a fitness walk along the San Antonio River Museum followed by a fitness expo and awards ceremony.
“At esd, we value the health of our employees who are critical in helping our company to create a fun and healthy workplace,” said Erik Simpson, esd founding partner. “We are honored to receive this recognition by the Business Journal and its partner Humana.”
Winning sixth place in the “Small Business” category, esd was recognized for a program that folds fitness services into a health insurance wellness plan. A health assessment offers rewards for meeting fitness goals. A trainer leads company workouts every week, and members participate in bike rides and walks. esd reimburses employees for entry fees to runs/walks, marathons, triathlons and cycling events.
On Oct. 6, a team of esd employees placed third in the Challenge of the Fittest, a corporate fitness event held by the Fit Company Institute, an organization that provides area companies and business leaders opportunities to show the importance of healthy lifestyles. In June, esd earned the Gold Recognition in the 2013 Healthy Workplace Recognition Program for its dedication to health and wellness of employees.
Additionally, esd employees promote and volunteer with the Fit Family Challenge, a 12-week summer program designed to motivate families to get active, and learn about health and fitness. In its fourth year, Fit Family Challenge is funded through a grant from the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation.
