Síclovía gives the community a chance to play and exercise in the streets on a 2.5-mile path with no traffic interruptions. The new Southside location exposes new communities to Síclovía, while showcasing a different San Antonio landscape compared to its traditional route off Broadway.
This free community event will take place this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will begin at the intersection of South St. Mary’s Street and East Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard. It will travel south along East Mitchell Street and Mission Road to Mission Concepción.
Monica Garza, Director of Community Wellness at the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, encourages the community to come and experience the new unique activities Síclovía has to offer.
Over 65,000 community members are expected to attend this season’s event and are invited to participate in all the fun activities and Reclovías planned throughout the new Southside route, with the initiative to motivate residents to maintain a permanent healthy life style.
participants are invited to Humana’s booth to take “selfies” with sports equipment to envision the “new you”, in an effort to promote motivation for permanent health and wellness.
With all these exciting activities forecasted for this Sunday’s event, people throughout the community are still encouraged to locate the colorful bikes around town signifying Síclovía’s new route.
To raise awareness about the new Southside location, a social media marketing campaign was developed by digital marketing firm, esd & associates. The colorful bicycles have created an interactive social media buzz throughout the entire community. San Antonian’s who find the bikes around town are asked to post a photo of the bikes with the hash tag #movingtosouthtown to be entered for a chance to win bike accessory prizes.
