Dr. Valentin Almendarez, a gynecological surgeon with the Institute for Women’s Health (IFWH), was recently featured in a video partnering with St. Luke’s Baptist hospital to perform a medical procedure called Single Site Robotic Hysterectomy.  This type of procedure is a new option for many women that involves less pain and a speedy recovery process compared to a typical hysterectomy surgery.
In the video, Dr. Almendarez performs the robotic procedure on a patient who suffers from endometriosis. “Almost all of my hysterectomies are done in robotic,” says Dr. Almendarez, who plans to perform a third of his hysterectomies this way.  He is on one of only a handful of Texas surgeons trained in this new approach.
Dr. Almendarez and St. Luke’s Baptist hospital are the first to perform Single Site Robotic Hysterectomies in the South Texas Medical Center. esd is proud to partner with IFWH and be a part of the innovative technology their physicians are specialized in to improve medical procedures.
