San Antonio- Team members at esd & associates were recognized Saturday, Feb. 21, with four ADDY awards during the annual San Antonio American Advertising Federation ceremony at the McNay Art Museum.
esd doubled the awards received last year, winning four ADDYs for work on the YMCA Fall 2014 Síclovía campaign, a Síclovía Kicks announcement, the 2015 Shiner G.A.S.P. Jersey, and Los Luchadores 5K microsite.

A Gold ADDY award went to esd for design of the Institute for Women’s Health “Los Luchadores 5K” microsite. Using the Bootstrap platform, the site played a key role in the success of the 5K. The campaign theme was “Fighting 4 Women’s Health” and motivated the community to join the 5K race to fight for women’s health.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for the passion that our team puts into getting client results,” said Erik Simpson, chief creative officer. “These awards are great validation for the hard work that our talented team brings to every project.”

For the YMCA Fall 2014 Síclovía campaign, esd created an innovative theme called “Síclovía Kicks.” The integrated campaign, which won a Silver ADDY, tapped into the sneaker art subculture, schools, local art studios and faith communities.
Working closely with the marketing manager of the YMCA, esd secured earned media on News 4 WOAI, FOX 29 and KSAT 12. esd also created an instructional how-to video, vines and a website where people could post their personalized kicks.
The Síclovía Kicks announcement won a Silver ADDY through an innovative process. esd’s shoebox and flyer design added a creative touch to traditional event announcement invitations. The shoeboxes worked as a guerilla-marketing tactic that invited all media, schools and organizational stakeholders to spread the word about Síclovía in conjunction with the microsite.

The third Silver ADDY award went to the 2015 Shiner G.A.S.P. cycling jersey, which worked in conjunction with Shiner Beer’s Texas spirit. The design incorporated the community’s love for their small town in a lightweight, breezy jersey. The shirt displays a traditional landmark of Shiner, Texas, and the route that cyclists ride during the G.A.S.P. event.
Thousands of cyclists will wear the esd-designed jersey on April 25, 2015, when they participate in the Shiner G.A.S.P., a 100-mile bicycle ride starting in Austin and traveling to the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas. The public can purchase a jersey at the Shiner Bock Store.
The San Antonio American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry’s largest competition, attracting over 40,000 local entries across the country.
