KERRVILLE, TX—The Texas Hill Country communities in and around Kerrville have their very own Goodwill store, donation station and Good Careers Center now that the nonprofit organization officially opened its newest location on July 23.
“We are excited to be expanding to Kerrville, where we will have the opportunity to provide career services to the growing communities in the Texas Hill Country,” said Marla Jackson, President and CEO of the local area Goodwill Industries.
Distinguished speakers and guests included local elected officials and economic development leaders who praised Goodwill for helping to create job opportunities with the new store and Good Careers Center. Read more about the grand opening in The Kerrville Daily Times here.
Located within the store, the Good Careers Center will provide workshops for job seekers and employers. Workshops will include basic computer training and how to use the Microsoft Office Suite programs of Word, Excel, and Power Point. Other possibilities include skills such as forklift training and certification. Goodwill also offers job placement services and access to computers for job seekers.
Grand opening specials being held on July 23-26 include store savings, prizes and special events for shoppers and donors. Door busters will be available for the first 50 people each day when doors open and the first 25 people at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, and 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Starting in September, Goodwill will also offer the Kerrville area free Home Pickup Services, enabling residents to donate large, gently used furniture items from the comfort of home.
“We are also excited to be partnering with other nonprofit agencies in the Kerrville area,” added Jackson. “With every item you donate to Goodwill, you will help benefit the local community by making a difference for those who need our services, no matter how large or small in the communities this new store serves.”
When you donate to or shop at Goodwill, you are funding education, training and services that prepare people to find better jobs and build careers. The Kerrville store will include a Good Careers Center where the community can gain access to services at no cost including:
- One-on-one career planning
- Resume preparation
- Vocational and education assessments
- Job readiness training
- Workshops, life coaching, mentorships and case management services
