How to use SEO in content marketing

As a content marketer, you know that the key to attracting people and ranking well with a search engine is using the proper content. But content goes beyond the standard goals of writing at a 7th grade level, appealing to known end users and solving particular search problems. The proper use of content will create search engine optimization (SEO) with key phrases built in the content, the SEO title and the SEO meta description. How do you properly use SEO content? You create a SEO strategy with research, link building, and rankings and traffic analysis.

Your SEO content strategy should begin with researching key words and phrases used to search for your client’s product or service. A good number of key phrases is five to seven (and no more than 10) in a content of 300 to 400 words. These key words will play a major role in giving your page relevance in the search engine site. The use of an application tool such as Keyword Niche Finder will help with identifying key words and phrases for specific topics.

Secondly, support your content with added links. The trustworthiness of your links will build authority. When you share on social networks and build links to your SEO content, you create a connected and sociable page. The links should be placed naturally among the content. These links could be from your internal sites or from external sites to support the content. The number of links in your content is determined by the natural flow of the promotion of the content. There is not a set amount of links you can use among the content.

The final step is to regularly analyze your SEO content to determine the success of the page views, links, comments and social shares. Use surveys and analytic software to know what audience you have attracted to your page. The analyzed results may lead to changes in the SEO content, SEO title and SEO meta description. Your SEO title should be catchy and the description should support the relevant part of your article within a 70-character limit. The SEO meta description should contain key phrases and key words with a 155-character limit. Also, continue updating links to your content to ensure your page ranks well on a search engine. Create an editorial calendar to have continuous review and updates to your SEO content.

The completion of the SEO strategy brings search traffic to your client’s page, develops an online marketing persona and connects your client to their audience. Properly using your SEO content not only gives the site relevance and authority with a search engine, but if properly written it will hook its audience with the introduction and persuade with its content.
