DIY Winner Caitlin Baskin

SAN ANTONIO – A plate costing less than a dollar became a piece of art and won Caitlin Baskin, one talented crafter, more than $100 in prizes at Goodwill San Antonio’s Mom’s Night Out DIY craft contest (#MomsDIYNightOut).
Multi-colored polka dots arranged in geometric shapes turned a plain, white plate into a colorful accent piece. The grand prize included two tickets to a painting session at The Royal Canvas, a fun-filled two hours of art and fun, a Goodwill gift card, a tiara and a painting donated by The Royal Canvas.
About 20 attendees were guided through the free, Iron Chef type competition by three champion craft bloggers – Amy Johnson of Maker Mama, Veronica Rouse of Seven Lovely Things and Morena Hockley of Morena’s Corner. Each blogger gave a presentation and then competitors were allowed to pick from items taken off the shelves at Goodwill.  Goodwill also provided the art supplies and a table groaning with light refreshments. Raffled door prizes included Goodwill gift cards and arts and craft supplies.
