OwnUp SA Campaign

At one time, San Antonio carried a reputation for killing more stray pets than any other city in the nation, spurring, then Mayor Phil Hardberger to declare that the city would become a “No Kill” community. An alliance of civic organizations and corporate leaders formed a volunteer consortium selecting esd during the competitive RFP process to develop a strategic marketing plan, create an identity and launch an awareness campaign. We went to work immediately developing the OwnUp SA campaign. Working within the boundaries of a very limited budget the esd team utilized outdoor advertising, interactive & public relations only. Area animal shelters and pet organizations joined together, placing OwnUp banners on their websites and attending adoption & spay/neuter awareness events. The marketing and public relations results were outstanding just nine months after launch the aggregate awareness in the San Antonio community was a record 32 percent. (research conducted by Core Research). esd owns and licenses the brand identity and marketing package to communities through the United States.
