Nearly 300 cyclists zipped through downtown San Antonio early Saturday morning, Sept. 26, to raise awareness of prostate cancer. Methodist Healthcare sponsored the Ride with a Mission, produced in five short weeks by esd & associates’ public relations and event coordination team. Metropolitan Methodist CEO Bernie Boone and Police Chief William McManus kicked off the ride, which commenced with the “Theme from Rocky.”
The riders were very happy with the police escort along their 28-mile route from Metropolitan Methodist Hospital around the historic San Antonio Missions and back. They also enjoyed free t-shirts, food (tacos from Texas Roadhouse, hot dogs from the San Antonio Police Officers Association) and very pleasant weather.
A big thank you to the sponsors: Metropolitan Methodist Hospital, Methodist Specialty And Transplant Hospital, LIVESTRONG-the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Prostate Cancer Awareness Initiative-da Vinci Surgery, American Cancer Society, Texas Cancer Care, Texas Roadhouse, San Antonio Police Officers Association, Starbucks, Britton’s Bicycle Shop, Coca Cola, Jason’s Deli, Bike World, Alamo Ice/Twice the Ice, Farmland and Sun Harvest.
