Clowns and pancakes and Cleto, oh my! On Tuesday, February 28, 2012, San Antonio Alzafar Shriners teamed up the IHOP for National Pancake Day. A short stack of free scrumptious buttermilk pancakes were served up to guests, who were invited to make a donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. esd’s public relations department invited Cleto from WOAI-TV to help promote this wonderful event. KABB-TV, KSAT-TV and KENS-TV also covered the event with live shots all morning.
IHOP served four million free pancakes on National Pancake Day 2011. They hoped to raise $2.7 million this year for Shriners Hospitals for Children and other charities. Nearly one million children have received care at Shriners Hospitals for Children, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Each year, more than 700 children from San Antonio and South Texas are treated at Shriners Hospitals for Children.
