More than 4,000 businesses across the nation entered their company to win the Business Journal’s nationwide Social Madness contest. The contest, measuring interactions, engagement and direct votes is down to just two contenders in each local division – and for San Antonio at least, esd and associates is one of them. Soon, the entire country will have to weigh in which city will walk away with the grand tech title.
Participating local business owners all agree that there’s something to be said for a city that takes the cake in a national contest like this. National rewards often result in bigger and better things for a city and for small and large local business owners.

“Imagine if esd and associates brought the national title home to San Antonio. That’s an honor that belongs not only to us, but to the entire city. We’re going up against cities that are media heavy hitters like New York and San Francisco – we have a responsibility as San Antonians to support our city and show the nation that we are a tech savvy city.”
This contest is far from esd’s first foray into the realm of digital promotion. esd and associates is a digital creative agency dedicated to bridging the gap between traditional and online marketing to create a complete 360º solution for companies and organizations. The agency is also certified as one of four Google AdWords certified businesses in San Antonio.
“We need to begin cultivating San Antonio as a social media and tech power player,” said Christine Kleha, President and CEO of esd and associates. “This contest isn’t just important for the company who wins it; it’s important for our whole city. It’s important for us to support the local winner to help them soar past the national level preliminaries in the small, medium and large business categories.”
Galaviz, a native San Antonian herself, echoes Kleha’s sentiments.
“The mayor, city manager and many others have done so much to showcase San Antonio’s progressive nature. This contest is one way of helping San Antonio to reach that goal in technology.”
According to the City of San Antonio Economic Development Department, in 2011 San Antonio ranked nationally as a top performing city for jobs, and within the past two years, esd‘s involvement in grassroots community initiatives like the Mayor’s Fitness Council and the San Antonio Sports Fit Family Challenge have helped San Antonio leave its fattest cities list designation behind and start becoming a more health conscious community.
“San Antonio is more than a tourist destination,” said Kleha. “We’re the seventh largest city in the country. Moving forward in the Business Journal social media contest is another progressive step for a city already leading the way in many other areas.”
Voting for the local level of the Business Journal’s Social Madness contest runs through midnight on Monday, July 16. Voting for the national level commences Tuesday, July 24. The final national winner will be announced Tuesday, September 11. Place your vote for esd and associates this round now.
