Sendero enrollee discusses ACA with HHS Secretary SebeliusOne of the first Central Texans to enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace via Sendero Health Plans met with U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Oct. 25 to discuss the Affordable Care Act (ACA) at the CommUnityCare offices in East Austin.
Austinite Kat Richards, a graphic artist who did an exhaustive search for a healthcare plan in the marketplace, chose Sendero’s IdealCare Bronze plan because it was the most affordable option with the best value.
“I’m very much pro-local, which is what makes Sendero so great for local Austinites,” Richards said. “After searching the website, I was pleased to learn that I will have plenty of options with area doctors around the city.”
Richards found coverage that is far less expensive than her previous high-deductible, catastrophic health plan on the private market. “I chose Sendero’s IdealCare because it’s the best option in the area. It has lower copays, lower deductibles and great prescription coverage,” Richards added.
“Kat is a great example of the way Sendero is empowering our community with affordable health insurance,” said David Lamkin, Sendero Health Plans CEO.
Sendero Health Plans is the only homegrown, nonprofit organization offering affordable health insurance in Austin and surrounding areas as part of the ACA.
