More than 100 supporters attended the Methodist Healthcare System’s “Beat Cancer Lighting Ceremony” on Monday, October 22,2012.
Emceed by KABB-TV’s Daytime @ Nine co-host Kimberly Crawford, the event featured live musical entertainment from the all-female mariachi group Mariachi Damas de Jalisco. Those in attendance included Rose González Pérez, the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas Chief Executive Officer,  Metropolitan Methodist Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Greg Seiler and a countless number breast cancer survivors and supporters. Local Boy Scouts and Girl scouts that were present at the ceremony and participated in various craft activities earned a Breast Cancer Awareness patch.

The night concluded with a ceremonial pink lighting of the entire Metropolitan Methodist Hospital, including the Women’s Pavilion and Methodist Professional Building. The buildings were lit for an entire week in support of breast cancer awareness.
The lighting ceremony was part of the Metropolitan Methodist Hospital Breast Center’s “Be Pink” events that were held throughout the month of October.
