On Monday, February 11, 2013 while on his break, Jason Schirmer, a graphic designer at esd & associates, came to the rescue when he witnessed a young girl being forced into a red pickup truck. Jason didn’t hesitate as he ran towards the truck and proceeded to reach into the vehicle and hold the aggressor in a chokehold! Thankfully after much struggle, the girl was able to get out of the truck while the perpetrator fled the scene.
Jason was interviewed today, February 18, 2013 by Emily Baucumm of WOAI-TV for a news package on safety. Gilbert C. De LA Portilla, a Certified Crime Prevention Specialist, was also interviewed for tips on how to prevent these sorts of attacks and what to do if the situation should occur.
Upon hearing what Jason did, the esd team decided to show their appreciation for their secret superhero by having cake in his honor!
