YMCA of Greater San Antonio partnering with Obesity Action Coalition to offer the YWM Healthy Living Expo as part of 4th Annual Your Weight Matters National Convention
SAN ANTONIO – The YMCA of Greater San Antonio is proud to announce that it is joining the Obesity Action Coalition to provide San Antonio residents with opportunities to receive free health screenings and learn more about their weight and health at the YWM Healthy Living EXPO on Aug. 15.
Hosted in conjunction with the 4th annual Your Weight MattersSM National Convention at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, the YWM Healthy Living EXPO will open its doors for FREE to the public on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local residents will have the opportunity to visit a diverse array of vendors showcasing proven devices, products and services in the health and wellness industry.
“Today, it is estimated that more than 28 percent of Texans are impacted by obesity. With that in mind, the OAC recognized an inherent need to provide Texans with evidence-based information on weight, health and much more. We’re very excited to give back to the city of San Antonio and offer free access to the EXPO,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.
Sandy Morander, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, said the expo provides positive messages about ways to achieve healthy weight and improve overall wellness.
“The exhibitors at this event are focused on educating the public on the science and psychology of weight, to help our community make informed decisions that lead to better health outcomes,” added Morander.
In addition to interacting with more than 30 health-focused vendors, EXPO attendees can also participate in a FREE health screening at the YWM Healthy Living EXPO.
“The OAC is very excited to host the EXPO in partnership with the YMCA. The Y’s reputation is well-known and respected throughout the United States. We feel the EXPO greatly complements the YMCA’s many effective and valuable health-focused programs, such as the Diabetes Prevention Program,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC president and CEO.
