Nonprofit organizations are the lifeblood of our city. The nonprofit industry of San Antonio is a tangible representation of our community’s values and is key in helping abate need in our city. However, nonprofits do more than just bridge gaps in the community. They also:

Unite the Community
There’s nothing quite so unifying as coming together to support a common cause, and nonprofits give the community a place to do that. Whether it’s working to alleviate hunger in San Antonio, helping take care of animals at an animal shelter or assisting at one of San Antonio’s many other nonprofit organizations, nonprofits can unify community members from every walk of life.

Create Jobs
While much of the manpower behind nonprofit organizations stems from volunteers, these organizations run similarly to for-profit businesses. Just like most traditional corporations, employees from the community run the day-to-day operations and perform specialty jobs like website development, accounting and more.

Increase the Standard of Living
Nonprofits identify needs in our community and work within our community to fill those needs. By using local resources to target city-specific issues, these organizations help increase the standard of living in our communities and improve our city overall.

Provide Goods and Services
From dog food and cat litter to computers and cleaning supplies, nonprofits consume goods which helps stimulate the local economy. According to the Borgen Project, nonprofits “[generate] revenue for the companies that manufacture and distribute these goods and services, thereby providing economic stimulation.”

Nonprofits benefit our community in a variety of ways. Give back to your favorite San Antonio nonprofit this Thursday, March 22, 2018, during The Big Give at TheBigGiveSA.org!
