A Community Event for Heart Health

BUSINESS CHALLENGE

Methodist Hospital Systems created their Red Dress Run to raise money for the American Heart Association (AHA) and develop positive relationships within the community. For 2018, the client’s goal was to increase participation, helping raise even more donations for AHA and enhancing the impact for the community. As February is National Heart Month, the race would be integrated into a larger campaign promoting heart health.

SOLUTION

The Red Dress Run has been held in the Stone Oak community in the past years. In 2018, Methodist Stone Oak approached esd to plan, promote, and help the run be the most successful one to date. esd coordinated the logistics for the Red Dress Run and crafted a public relations strategy to promote registration, including writing and distributing press releases and a cohesive social media campaign.

Other promotional efforts included:

  • Creating videos for website and social media chronicling the Chief Operating Officer (COO) choosing a red dress
  • Producing and designing promotional products like flyers, T-shirts, and digital ads
  • Utilizing Instagram stories, Facebook live, and Snapchat geofilters on the day of the event

esd set up the start and finish line, and coordinated vendors and volunteers to create an engaging and organized atmosphere for attendees. The run raised over $15,000 for the AHA and introduced participants to the Methodist Healthcare System as a caring member of the community.
